I was wondering around the "net" and came across and article Labor Day Sales You Don't Want to Miss This Weekend by Matt Brownell.

J.Crew is taking 30 percent off its entire stock of "final sale" items. The discount -- which is on top of previous markdowns -- just use the code HELLO30. (Good through 11:59 p.m. ET Monday. The deal is good in-stores and online)

L.L. Ice Cream Bread for real?

I get a newsletter from Macaroni Kids and always look through for interesting stuff.  Well today this is what I found..

Ice Cream Bread By: Heather Wirtz

This recipe makes one loaf and from what I've read, will work best with high quality, full-fat ice cream.

Ingredients:

2 cups of your favorite ice cream, softened

1 1/2 cups self-rising flour

Additional ingredients to mix in (optional):

strawberries

bananas

chocolate chips

sprinkles

nuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Spray 8x4 or 9x5 loaf pan, set aside.
In a medium bowl mix softened ice cream and flour together until combined. Mix in any additional ingredients.
Pour into the loaf and smooth out if needed.

Bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Remove from loaf pan and allow to cool.

If anyone tries it let me know how it goes.

taking advantage of some sales and finding some bargins

Went to Staples for my $9.99 case of paper, $.50 7" scissors, and $1.00 3 hole punch.

Made a fast stop at Walgreens, got my Milk, $2.99, 3 x 5 index cards $.39, and diet coke 2/$2.50 (not advertised in circular)

Went to the Salvation Army Family Thrift store on US1 and got Alex 2 pair of jeans, a zip up hoodie, with thumb holes, a really nice silk button up shirt, and 2 color shirts for school all for $20.00.

Then scooted next door to Goodwill. There they were having a sale on ALL kids clothes 2/$1.00.  Connor got 2 pair of shorts and 4 school shirts.  I also go Alex a suit jacket (don't ask) for $7.99, and a bathing suit and a pair of shorts they should have been $2.99 each, but the cashier after she rung them in said "those weren't kids were they?" and I said no they weren't and she was "oh well you just got them for the 2/$1.00 price"  GO ME!!!!

What a great economical shopping excursion!!!! Wish you all could have been there with me.

To BJ's or not to BJ's that is the question

To BJ's or not to BJ's that is the question.....

So a friend of ours, Greg, gave Jeremy a one day pass to try BJ's Wholesale Club. 

He suggested that we do so as there was savings to be had.  

So, since we were going to be over the bridge any way we decide to check it out.

The first thing that I noticed was the free pass had fine print that informed me if I used the pass

then I would be charged a "non-member surcharge" of 15%. Well hmm maybe no purchases this trip

but I could check out the prices.  Also I looked on line and the membership fee was $50.00.

To me that means I would have to save at least $10.00 a week shopping there.

Ok so we got there and started our comparisons.  Certain things like soaps and deodorants were 

a few cents cheaper, but I had to buy a much bigger package than I wanted.  I also noted that I 

couldn't compare the toilet paper as they worded the amounts different than Wal-Mart or any of my 

local grocery stores.

Cold cuts were not cheaper and neither was the produce.  Now ground beef was cheaper and so

was split chicken breasts and gallons of milk, but not enough to make it worth the membership.

So, we decided Not to BJ's membership.  I can get better prices on most things at Wal-Mart

and by following sales locally as well as getting online coupons i can do better and save

gas not having to travel to Port St. Lucie.

Hope this helps someone else out there.

Ok really not been happy with the sales at CVS for the last few weeks. 
 
First off they do Buy 1 get one 1/2 off not get one free so that is stinky

Second, the prices aren't really "sale" they give you reward bucks for your next time purchase, which I guess is ok, but they normally have a short span of time they can be used.

So this week the only sale is Diet Coke for $.99 and you can have Wal-Mart match that if need be.
