FB Recipe Tried

This was not tried by me as of yet, but 3 FB friends have done it so here it is.

Carolyn Tortorello Campos says she has made these but didn't use the cake mix pictured on the box and it comes out AWESOME!! She uses Spice cake mix.

Patti Thompson says AMAZING and she used Spice cake mix as well.

Rose Drossart followed the above directions exactly and she didn't care for them.  But her 12 year old step-daughter and my husband both seemed to like them (she brought me 2 for me and Jeremy and to try. WTG Rose!!! lol) It wasn't my thing but I am not a big pumpkin fan.

I can say they were super moist.  I will be getting a box of spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin, and making these myself.

Thanks ladies for being the test dummies and letting me know the feed back to share with my blog followers.

Photo: Here's a dish that will Blow your MIND... Tomato Basil Pasta! - No Straining, just Stirring

(Please click on pic then click SHARE so recipe saves to your timeline. You can refer back to it later!)

Pasta, Tomatoes, Veggie Broth, Olive Oil, and Seasonings (details below)

Throw it all in the pot, INCLUDING the uncooked Pasta, and cook! - Bring it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. The starch leaches out of the pasta and makes a rich, warm sauce for the noodles. The other ingredients cook right along with the pasta
Ingredients

12 ounces pasta (I used Linguine)
1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes with liquid ( I used zesty red pepper flavor)
1 large sweet onion, cut in julienne strips
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
2 large sprigs basil, chopped
4 1/2 cups vegetable broth (regular broth and NOT low sodium)
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Parmesan cheese for garnish

Directions

Place pasta, tomatoes, onion, garlic, basil, in a large stock pot. Pour in vegetable broth. Sprinkle on top the pepper flakes and oregano. Drizzle top with oil.

Cover pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to a low simmer and keep covered and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes or so. Cook until almost all liquid has evaporated – I left about an inch of liquid in the bottom of the pot – but you can reduce as desired .

Season to taste with salt and pepper , stirring pasta several times to distribute the liquid in the bottom of the pot. Serve garnished with Parmesan cheese.

Enjoy A Healthier Happier YOU!

Ok, so let me start by saying mine didn't look anything like the before picture.
First off the pasta didn't fit nice in the pot like the picture did, I would venture a guess that he broke the pasta in half, I hate doing that so I didn't.
2nd, what is the green leafy veggy?  Looked like spinach to me, my husband said no must be the chopped basil sprigs. Really? Based on the image  found looks like he didn't chop the stupid leaves. (I found the image on
shutterstock and you can click the image to go to their website)
Sprigs of fresh basil from low perspective isolated on white. - stock photo

3rd, it was just nasty.  It really needed some kind of protein, Jeremy suggested shrimp, I would have been happy with chicken as well.
It looks like an Italian version of low mien.
And lastly, YUK.

I do not recommend making this.  However, if someone else tried this and has a different opinion and/or suggestions for improvement please feel free to let me know in the comments.

Save A Lot 9/18/2013 10/1/2013

Ok so Save-A-Lot isn't my favorite store by any means, but we are getting to end of the month crunch to make the food budget last and frankly if you don't mind off brand names its the place to shop.

Having said that they get on my last nerve!  Ok so you CANT email, copy or anything you list you create on line, all it lets you do is print it.  So, I had to print the list, snap photos and then email the photos to myself to get the list in here for you all to see.

And please don't forget to take the quarter with you to get the cart or you can't use one. You have to rent them for 25 cents.  And they don't give you bags for free. So you can pay, but sort of defeats going there for bargins or bring your own bags or boxes.

Here is hoping that you can read these.  If not go directly to their website, the ad is on line for you to review.
