The ladies of the Psi Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, will host their fourth Annual: “Operation Back to School,” a free event providing backpacks and school supplies to K-5 children in the East Stuart/Martin County community. The event will be held on August 10, 2013 at the 10th Street Recreation Center, 724 East 10th Street, Stuart, FL 34994 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Participating youth consist of the children of the Boys and Girls Club, Angel Tree Ministry participants, and local children from the East Stuart community. In addition to backpacks with t basic supplies community organizations serving the needs of youth will be providing gently worn school uniforms, immunization information, health insurance information and dental health supplies. Additionally, raffles will take place throughout the entire event!

“We are so excited for Operation Back to School 2013,” Co-Chairperson Tonya Hodge-Hargrove said. “We want to promote education and wellness to the children and parents of the East Stuart community, and to provide them with a “jump start” to the 2013-2014 school year. This event is really going to help these local families easily transition into the new school year.”

A parent or guardian must be present with each child participating and lunch will be provided. Psi Pi Omega has received donations from several community and national organizations to make this annual event a success including: 2-1-1 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast, Inc., All About Achieving Learning Centers, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County, Inc., Children Services Council of Martin County, Dynamic Pediatric Dentistry for Children, PLC.,Macaroni Kids of Stuart, Martin County Healthy Start Coalition, Inc., Martin County Library System (Blake Branch), Motor Cars of Stuart, Stuart Police Department, Treasure Coast Community Counseling & Coaching Center, Inc., and Whole Child Connection, Inc.
